2009....by President Joan Cadman

Christmas started early in July at Cairns Meals on Wheels when we took posession of two brand new vehicles for the daily meal runs. Both were bought with a grant from The Queensland Government Gambling Community Benefit Fund

One of the new vehicles..... ready to go !

There were smiles all round as Santa delivered special treats during this year's Christmas Recipients' Luncheon where Hazel Schipke and her band provided trips down memory lane, playing old favourites for our luncheon guests.

Our two hard-working and talented chefs, Franz and Bruno delivered a magnificent Christmas Dinner to 120 of our wonderful volunteers with music from Hazel and her band again adding to the festive scene.

A special occasion for some very special people.

Vale Ivy Darcey 1931--2010

Ivy

It is with tears in our eyes and heavy hearts that we say a sad farewell to Volunteer Ivy Darcey, who died unexpectedly on February 9 this year. Ivy's enthusiasm for everything she did for us--big and small-- was contagious and an inspiration for all who knew her.

She will be greatly missed at Cairns Meals on Wheels.
